Zits can be profoundly irritating, and it can affect you at any age. It has a myriad of potential causes. Fortunately, the array of treatment options available to you is nearly as vast. Regardless of the cause, your pimples issue may respond well to some of the possible treatments outlined in this article.

If you’re just starting to break out, stop the pimples spread before it gets worse. Even if you only have barely visible zits on your face, go to your local pharmacy and shop for some skin cleaning products. Those tailored to fight acne are best, but any product that cleans your pores works well, also.

Try to treat your zits early. Many serious cases of pimples got that way because treatment did not start until much later. At the first sign of a breakout, you should take steps to stop it before it gets worse. This means gentle cleansing, keeping hydrated, eating well, exercising and sleeping well. When in doubt, see a physician or dermatologist.

A paste of baking soda can be used to treat oily skin and reduce pimples. Simply make a paste of baking soda and water, and apply to problem areas to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. Be sure to use baking soda, not baking powder, as baking powder can actually burn the sensitive skin on your face.

One thing that can help your zits is to actually sweat it out. When you exert yourself and cause your body to produce sweat, you are actually flushing out the toxins in your system, which is great for preventing breakouts. Just make sure to wash your face after you sweat, so you don’t clog your pores.

A great way to help with zits problems is to use a different towel daily. The bacteria from one day of use can actually stay dormant on that towel and transfer back onto your skin the following day. You always want to start with a fresh clean towel after you wash your face.

A great natural remedy for pimples is witch hazel. Witch hazel is a natural astringent derived from Hamamelis virginiana plant, also known as the witch hazel shrub. When witch hazel is applied to the affected areas of the skin with a cotton ball after cleansing, it can reduce swelling and irritation caused by zits.

If you’re fighting pimples, check your moisturizers for ingredients that can make acne worse or prolong breakouts. Many rich or heavy moisturizing creams have ingredients that can clog pores, like sodium lauryl sulfate, cetearyl alcohol, cocoa butter or wheat germ oil. Other moisturizers contain ingredients like salicylic acid or retinol that can irritate skin that’s trying to heal. Make sure to choose moisturizers that are non-comedogenic (non-clogging), non-acnegenic, and gentle on acne-prone skin.

You should never think of pimples as inevitable. While some of its causes are beyond your control, some are issues that you can address or even resolve. It may not even require much effort for you to treat a lot of the underlying causes of your zits. Tips like the ones presented in this article, can help you put yourself in control of your acne situation.
